Candidate Application
Name: Alerra
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Jr. Weyrling, JM1 Healer (specialty: midwifery)
Appearance: Alerra has a mass of curly brown hair that goes down to her hips when let free. She wears it meticulously braided (well, as much as one can with curly hair) and her bangs are long enough that she's begun to include them in the braid. Having hair in her face was too bothersome for her tastes. Along with the curls of her hair, she has her grandfather's sharp green eyes and an angular face. Her lips are thinner than is quite common, but seem to suit her just fine.
Alerra stands at 5'8" with a thin, delicate frame. It seems that her family has a tendency towards height, and she is the shortest of her immediate family. She's been told that her great aunt had been shorter than her, but she had never met the woman. Her forearms are severely scarred from an accident when she was small and she wears bandages wrapped around them because she has gotten tired of people staring at them. Besides, it never hurts to have more bandages on hand. In a pouch belted to her waist, she has a small jar of numbweed and another of redwort, along with a few other other small trinkets that she carries on a regular basis.
Alerra is always wearing earrings, and is rarely seen in pants. Whenever she must travel, she acknowledges that skirts can become bothersome and chooses to wear a split skirt over trousers instead. She is fond of darker, richer colors like brown, navy, dark green, and perhaps maroon. She's also been known to wear white, or cream, if she's feeling ostentatious. She embroiders differently colored trim onto her clothing in her spare time because she enjoys the needlework.
Personality: Alerra is a Hold girl and dutiful daughter, through and through. She is meticulously neat and orderly, and only has to be told things once before she gets them right. She holds a high respect for authority and assumes that anyone being approached by someone above them in status should deal with them with great courtesy, and any order given should be taken without question. In her own mind, she considers the man to be the head of any situation. This is not to say that she considers women useless or best fit for doing nothing, but if a man and a women approached her in the same expertise, she would assume that the man was the one to turn to.
She loves to do needlepoint and similar "womanly" pursuits and has found that she has a great love of children. It's quite possible that, had she stayed at Fort Hold, she would have gone on to become a foster mother. She assumes that others will do as they are bid by authority figures (not necessarily by her) and will likely be rather offended if they are not. She is a stickler for rules and would never be able to break her word once she has given it, unless at request by someone of much higher status.
As much as Alerra can be... set in her ways, she is not always serious. She loves old Harper's songs, especially those about the bygone days of Thread. She thinks of them as beautiful flights of fancy and loves to repeat them to the children in her Hold. As much as she would never admit it, she occasionally finds herself imagining what life would be like protecting Pern from dragonback. She doesn't have a great deal of respect for the current weyrs, but there is something about the Harper songs that speaks to her heart. Good luck getting her to admit to it, though. The girl can have a stubborn streak a mile wide and likes to think of herself as practical and not as a dreamer.
Family:
Mother: Halerra (46)
Father: Aleon (51)
Brothers: Halon (23), Aleor (17)
Grandfather: Kampeon (74)
Grandmother: Alesia (73)
Aunt: Kamsia (53)
Uncle: Toryn (54)
Cousin (f): Torsia (23)
Cousins (m): Kamyn (27), Koryn (28)
(As a note for those who once wrote on Stormheart Weyr: sadly, Calche is no longer living. She lived her life happy and single, playing "fun" auntie to Kampeon's two children; Aleon (m) and Kamsia (f). Kampeon's not exactly at the top of his game, either. He's "retired", like that does the old bitter Healer any good. ;] His shock of red hair is now snowy white, his knees aren't so great, and his eyes aren't what they used to be. However; his mind is as sharp as ever, never you mind.)
Background: Arella is born and raised in Fort Hold with her two brothers, Halon and Aleor. When she was very small and her brother Halon had been supposed to be keeping some kind of eye on his baby sister who hadn't even been able to crawl at the time, he got distracted. The next thing their mother heard was Arella crying. When they found her, having discovered that rolling around was really fun, they found her being chewed on by a poisonous tunnelsnake. With some assistance, the poison was pulled out before it did any serious damage to little Arella, but her forearms were horribly scarred, more so on her left than on her right.
As she grew, Arella did her best to be an exemplary daughter and to learn what she considered her role in life. When she was small, she found that she loved small children and helping patch them up. She seemed to have an aptitude for Healing so, in time, she was sent to apprentice to her grandfather Kampeon. She spent a great deal of time in and out of both Fort Hold and Fort Weyr (the home of her gran and Kampeon). At Fort Weyr, she learned quickly and intently, and spent much of her free time with her gran and the Weyrbrats. Kampeon didn't much seem to notice the runnings about of small children, and would occasionally forget that he was supposed to be "watching" his granddaughter.
Mostly, Alerra has found herself too busy for anything serious, but she's recently had her eye on one rather cute lad at Fort Hold. She's mostly kidding around but a girl has to settle down at some point, right? After her kidnapping to Hidden Island, she has found herself with quite the dilemma. Her intentions were to find some way, any way, to get away from here and then her plans were all bothered up by a green that she hadn't expected. And Nemmerith won't even call her by her name! She'd chosen a males name, which Alerra will not accept. Things likely will be interesting for a while.

Name: Nemmerith
Age: Hatchling
Hatch Date: April 1256
Color: Green (4CC417)
Description:
Size-wise, there isn’t really much that stands out about this green. All of her limbs are proportionate to her body, as is her head; the real attention grabber is her overall build. She is incredibly long, as though someone kneaded her and then pulled her like taffy. She actually has several extra vertebrae that extend her body out several feet longer than most greens’. As a result of this abnormally long back, Nemmerith’s body arches up and gives her a sort of ‘slinky’, almost rubbery appearance. She is a very slender green as well, with lean wiry muscle lining her unusual frame. She appears almost fragile and easily broken because of this, but never underestimate this green’s strength. Thanks to this unusual build (coupled with impossibly long wings), she will be capable of performing feats in the air that no other dragon could hope to accomplish… not even other greens.
Aside from her build, Nemmerith’s color is eye-catching as well. Although her siblings all seem to sport darker, duller colors, she seems to have escaped this fate. Her hide is positively dazzling, with a base color of a deep but brilliant soft green. It’s the green of early summer, when everything is still lush and fresh from spring rains and the heat hasn’t had a chance to dull the green growing things. However her underside is a much brighter color, the almost glowing yellow-green of bright sunlight through a leafy canopy. Extending from her chest to halfway down her tail, the edges of this lighter color are not smooth and sharp, nor do they fade into the darker shade of green. Rather, they’re speckled, looking almost as if she’d given a mighty leap into a pool of vividly colored paint. There are even flecks of this shade like freckles across Nemmerith’s shoulders and haunches.
Personality:
This green is undeniably energetic and lively, but unlike most of her peers, hers is not an energy born of perpetual happiness. That’s not to say that she’s an unhappy dragon; quite the opposite. However, instead of being all sunshine and rainbows, Nemmerith’s energies are born out of pure mischief. This green’s hide isn’t the only thing about her that is positively brilliant. She is remarkably intelligent, especially when it comes to thinking up pranks and practical jokes. She loves giving people a hard time, and will often ‘laugh’ at others for dirtying their hides (or clothes), falling into unsavory things, and being clumsy, among other things. Nemmerith has a wonderful sense of humor and loves a good joke, but more than anything she enjoys laughing at other people’s expense.
She isn’t necessarily cruel; she merely sees the humor in most situations, and also encourages her rider to do the same. But beware! This dragon is easily bored, and if there is no entertainment to be found, she will create some of her own. Messes are always amusing, and the more disastrous they are the better! Nemmerith is always up to something, and if her rider becomes aware of the dragon’s schemes before she sets them into motion, it will take much rationalizing (read: begging) to get her to call them off, and even then it will be done with much reluctance and pouting on her part.
Although a good laugh is her favorite thing in the world (aside from her rider of course <3), Nemmerith is not above doing her fair share of work. Mischief-making aside, she is a willing and able worker, eager to please and ready to help with any task at a moment’s notice. Many people will underestimate her at first because of what some might call her ‘deformity’, but most will be pleasantly surprised by what she can really do when she puts her mind to it… as long as she isn’t distracted by some prank or another, of course.
Despite her prankster attitude though, Nemmerith is a good dragon; she cares deeply for Hers, as well as anyone that her rider cares about. When she isn’t being silly and letting her mischief-making run away from her, this green can be very sweet. She is naturally friendly to those who aren’t scared away by her pranks, and is always willing to talk to others. Other riders and even non-riders will find themselves holding conversations with this green, as she has no problem whatsoever chatting people up who aren’t Hers. Who knows… she might get an idea for her next big prank from someone completely random!
