South Run Weyr and the Rogue Territories
South Run Weyr
South Run Weyr is an unusual formation in the Western Barrier Mountains on the Southern Continent. It has three calderas in a loose line, forming a rough obtuse triangle for the Rim. Balustrades divide the three calderas incompletely, and each has its own lake or lakes. The Weyr is heavily forested and infested with grubs, which appear to be harmless. An odd draconid that has been dubbed a “salamandyr” is native to the area.
Salamandyrs were created by Musetta and are used with her permission. They are also found at Selenitas Weyr.
Eastern Caldera, called “East”
The eastern-most caldera is smallest, but has the most forested area. The balustrade dividing East from Queen’s Rest, the central caldera, is incomplete, so it’s possible to walk from East to Queen’s Rest on foot, without having to climb. It has an L-shaped lake towards the northern edge, which has been named Timor Lake. Extensive cave systems with numerous entrances to the ‘Bowl run on the southern and western sides of the ‘Bowl, and down into the balustrade. A series of hot springs and mudpots is also found in this caldera.
East is inhabited by the traditionalists, led by P’skel and green Relpath. A Crafthall complex has been set up in the cave systems, including a Records room, in order to encourage the Crafts at the new Weyr.
Central Caldera, called “Queen’s Rest”
The central caldera is the largest, but lacks ground-space due to the massive lake, which has been named Belior Lake. An island in the center of the lake is sparsely forested and has a thick, clay-ash soil which promotes verdant vegetative life. The shore of the island is jaggedly rocky and heavily colonized with freshwater shellfish and invertebrates. The caldera itself has a large number of massive caverns, including one deep underground large enough to be the Hatching Grounds, though the “sands” are ashes and pebbles, and wickedly hot from the dimming heat of the volcano.
Queen’s Rest is inhabited by the scientifically minded, led by Siobhan and gold Lyraneth. A Beastcraft Hall has been set up inside the caldera, with access to the outside of the Weyr via lava tubes and tunnels. A laboratory complex includes a Records room, nesting areas for flits and whers, and breeding labs. Queen’s Rest is sometimes called “Lyraneth” or “Lyra” in reference to the queen dragon, who rules it.
Western Caldera, called “West”
The western caldera is of moderate size, with an extensive cave system throughout the caldera and the balustrade completely dividing it from Queen’s Rest. Three small lakes, called the Dawn Sisters Lakes (Yokahama, Bahrain, and Buenesares), take up minimal space in the ‘Bowl, which has poor soil and a much less dense forest than other areas of the Weyr. West is generally inaccessible by foot, and has no cave system that breaches the outer wall. As such, it is the most easily defensible, a boon for those who live there.
West is the home of the militant, led by Aryna and blue Ejjarth. A smithy and glassforge have already been built, and tanning facilities can be found on the top of the balustrade. The cave systems are massive, and areas have been converted into a tactical complex and a series of large halls, including a Main Hall and a Messhall (for dining).

Ierne Wing
Ierne Wing uses the area around Ierne Island to the northwest of South Run, including the Great Bay Desert. They have two queens, who are twin sisters.
Wingleader: Amelie of brown Kismornath
Wingseconds: Br’nan of bronze Petrianoleth & U’lan of green Batoureth
Montane Wing
Unsurprisingly, Montane Wing holds the eastern part of the Western Barrier Range, down to and around the Azov Sea. They lack a queen and trade heavily with Orro and Lakeside Wing. This Wing is heavily composed of wherhandlers.
Wingleader: J’kel of bronze Bakoth
Wingseconds: Nemornallen of brown Nemornsk & Lianna of blue Mishtharoth
Lakeside Wing
Lakeside Wing hold the area around Drake’s Lake, but is highly nomadic. They have a single queen, who is grounded due to wingsail damage but still mates, Running instead of Rising.
Wingleader: Kalliope of gold Djanath
Wingseconds: G’morn of green Imhoteth & Tr’ne of brown Oolaneth
